U.S. Forest Service Lands After NREPA

 

Forest Service public access status after NREPA

This map shows the land use and management possibilities available after the passage of NREPA.  USFS lands are shown in white and green.  The green areas will be closed to motorized use and resource extraction.  Activities not permitted include logging, mining, energy development and any sort of motorized use including most forms of motorized recreation.  Snowmobiling and grazing may be allowed in some of the green areas that are set aside for corridors and recovery.  If allowed at all, these uses would be restricted to a very small percentage of the total area.
